Interactive Notebook Activities for Your Whiteboard

I love doing ISNs in my classroom!  However, sometimes I find myself explaining several times what I want on the left side due to multi-step directions. . This year I decided to create a PowerPoint of the various activities that I had into one PowerPoint so I could provide them with a visual.  This is a collection of fifty different activities to use in social studies or ELA. I am offering this as a  resource in my TPT store. Let me know what you think by leaving a comment and don't forget to follow me if you haven't already.

  1. Wow, this is such a terrific resource. I'm even thinking of printing some of these out to make a "choice board". I teach 6th grade and feel like they may need a more permanent visual.

Have you ever done something like the choice board? What do you think about it?

    Thanks again!

  2. I do use use choice boards, and they are great for journals and projects. For my Outsiders unit I have a bingo project where they choose five tasks to complete from a bingo board. The kids really like it! I think you tend to get better quality work when the kids can choose what they want to do.

I provide my kids with a list of activities they can choose from to complete the left side of their notebooks. However, I also have days where I choose for them because I am assessing a specific skill. It just depends on the class and what we are doing.

I have these particular activities in a table format and will post the link on this blog post. It is six pages long and in the form of a pdf. You could also make a choice board by printing out a version with multiple slides.

Thanks for the positive comments. I love feedback from my readers! It lets me know that the blog is serving its purpose, providing middle school teachers with resources and ideas they can use.

  3. Thanks!!! This will be one of my most precious resources as I get these things off the ground. I agree, I always find myself repeating things with 7th graders...
